In the business of getting it done, you are always bound to encounter setbacks.
When a setback comes in the monetary variety, a repair bill or lost production, those things can be made up for. When a setback comes in the form of an injury, you don’t get a second chance to make up for those.
Setbacks also come with what we call a Moment of High Influence. When something hasn’t gone the way it ought to have, followers are likely paying close attention to how the problem is dealt with. If no one has been hurt, that likely means simply fixing the problem and getting back to business.
But what about when a setback is accompanied by a situation where someone could have been hurt, but wasn’t?
Moments like those serve as an opportunity to put your priorities, safety over production, on full display.
Handling those sorts of moments well ensures something is gained from the setback.
