Quando si tratta della nostra sicurezza personale - sul lavoro e a casa - facciamo ogni giorno un numero enorme di ipotesi su cose e persone. Piccoli e grandi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fare ipotesi inizia con il pendolarismo al lavoro. Attraversando un semaforo verde, supponiamo che tutti i conducenti in arrivo si fermino quando il loro lato diventa rosso. Quando siamo il conducente in arrivo, supponiamo che i freni della nostra auto funzionino. All'incrocio della ferrovia, supponiamo che se il cancello \u00e8 alto e le luci non lampeggiano, non vi \u00e8 alcun treno in arrivo.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuttavia sappiamo tutti per esperienza che i conducenti sono noti per far funzionare le luci rosse e i segnali di stop; si sa che le rotture del veicolo falliscono; i segnali dei passaggi a livello non sempre funzionano come previsto.<\/span><\/p>\n

D'altra parte, al lavoro siamo tenuti a fare determinate cose perch\u00e9 non ci \u00e8 permesso assumere qualcosa. Indossiamo un elmetto protettivo perch\u00e9 non possiamo presumere che nulla cadr\u00e0 e ci colpir\u00e0 in testa. Ci aggrappiamo al corrimano nella scala perch\u00e9 non ci \u00e8 permesso supporre che non inciampereremo e non cadremo.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00c8 impossibile ricontrollare ogni singola cosa nel mondo - o persona sul pianeta - che potrebbe rappresentare una fonte di danno per noi. Ma non fa male considerare ci\u00f2 che stiamo assumendo. E ogni volta che facciamo uno sforzo per "fidarci - ma verificare" stiamo facendo un passo positivo verso il ritorno a casa vivi e bene alla fine della giornata.<\/span><\/p>\n

Se stai cercando un altro esempio di "supponendo che ...", ecco un'altra storia su qualcosa di apparentemente piccolo - un pezzo di legno - che non era nelle condizioni in cui si supponeva fosse. Il fallimento si \u00e8 rivelato fatale.<\/span><\/p>\n
