Mentre mi stavo preparando per frequentare la laurea di mio figlio come elettricista industriale, mi sono ricordate delle numerose conversazioni che abbiamo avuto nel corso degli anni sulla sicurezza sul posto di lavoro. \u00c8 un argomento che \u00e8 sempre stato importante per me, essendo stato un leader industriale con molti elettricisti sotto la mia supervisione.<\/p>

Una conversazione con mio figlio mi ha colpito. Stavamo discutendo del motivo per cui gli elettricisti non sono sempre 100% diligenti nel testare i circuiti dopo averli isolati. Bo, avendo lavorato come apprendista elettrico, ha affermato che alcuni forse non l'hanno vista come una scelta: era semplicemente il modo in cui le cose venivano fatte. Ha sottolineato che dopo molti anni di esperienza nel fare a modo loro, \u00e8 un'abitudine e non una scelta. La conversazione ha richiesto molta pazienza e dannatamente buone domande da parte mia per comprendere correttamente la sua prospettiva.<\/p>

Questo mi ha fatto riflettere sulla percezione della scelta e su come i leader possono istruire meglio i propri seguaci sull'importanza di fare buone scelte quando si tratta di sicurezza. Non \u00e8 sempre ovvio per le persone, specialmente per coloro che sono nuovi nel settore o che fanno le cose in un certo modo da molto tempo. In qualit\u00e0 di leader, dobbiamo dedicare del tempo ad ascoltare i nostri follower e porre le domande giuste per aiutarli a capire perch\u00e9 sono necessarie determinate misure di sicurezza e spetta a loro fare la scelta giusta, in modo che possano tornare a casa sani e salvi a casa loro famiglie.<\/p>

Questo \u00e8 particolarmente importante quando si tratta di pericoli che non sono immediatamente visibili o evidenti. \u00c8 facile riconoscere i pericoli associati al metallo fuso o ai macchinari pesanti, ma molti dei pericoli che incontriamo richiedono ulteriore diligenza; come testare un circuito per assicurarsi che sia stato veramente diseccitato dopo averlo bloccato.<\/p>

Spetta a tutti noi, come leader e seguaci, riconoscere i pericoli e scegliere di fare buone scelte per proteggere noi stessi e i nostri colleghi. E a volte, ci\u00f2 significa prendersi il tempo per ascoltarsi davvero l'un l'altro e porre le domande giuste per ottenere una migliore comprensione.<\/p><\/div>
