Cinquant'anni fa, l'astronauta Neil Armstrong \u00e8 diventato il primo essere umano a mettere piede sulla Luna. Gli scienziati e gli ingegneri della NASA sono riusciti ad affrontare la pi\u00f9 grande sfida tecnica - e lo sforzo umano pi\u00f9 rischioso - del ventesimo secolo.\u00a0<\/span>
\u00a0<\/span>
Durante il primo decennio di voli spaziali con equipaggio negli Stati Uniti, nessuna vita umana \u00e8 stata persa nello spazio. Nella gestione del rischio, non esiste una storia di successo pi\u00f9 grande.<\/span>

Questo non vuol dire che nessuna vita sia stata persa nel perseguimento di questo ambizioso obiettivo. Nel 1967, un incidente mortale provoc\u00f2 la morte di tre astronauti a terra: sulla rampa di lancio, che si esercitavano per il decollo in una capsula spaziale sigillata arricchita di ossigeno, quando scoppi\u00f2 un incendio. In retrospettiva, questo era un evento non solo prevenibile ma ovvio: un'atmosfera di ossigeno puro a 16 PSI, con una delle migliori invenzioni della NASA - il velcro - bloccato ovunque.<\/span>

Carburante, ossigeno; tutto ci\u00f2 che mancava era una fonte di calore, e non ce n'era bisogno per attivare il Triangolo del Fuoco. Perch\u00e9 pensi che tutti quegli scienziati e ingegneri abbiano perso quel rischio potenzialmente fatale?<\/span>
