Quel que soit leur r\u00f4le, la caract\u00e9ristique commune et d\u00e9terminante des leaders est qu'ils ont tous des suiveurs. Dans ce cas, le r\u00f4le des dirigeants est de g\u00e9rer et de minimiser les dommages caus\u00e9s par le d\u00e9raillement et de communiquer efficacement avec le public -\u00a0leur\u00a0<\/em>suiveurs. Si vous avez d\u00e9j\u00e0 \u00e9t\u00e9 impliqu\u00e9 dans une crise comme celle-ci, vous appr\u00e9ciez le d\u00e9fi que repr\u00e9sente chacun de ces deux r\u00f4les. Il est difficile de ma\u00eetriser le danger : il est encore plus difficile de traiter avec des citoyens concern\u00e9s et affect\u00e9s.<\/p>

Divers dirigeants du gouvernement ont \u00e9t\u00e9 appel\u00e9s \u00e0 communiquer avec le public\u00a0: deux gouverneurs, des responsables de l'environnement de l'\u00c9tat et du gouvernement f\u00e9d\u00e9ral, et un maire, qui vit dans la ville.
