Si vous faites partie de la majorit\u00e9, ne sautez pas \u00e0 la conclusion que vous ne l&#039;\u00eates pas, car prendre des r\u00e9solutions pour le Nouvel An est tellement l&#039;affaire de vos parents : l&#039;\u00e9tude rapporte que \u00ab deux personnes sur cinq de moins de 30 ans pr\u00e9voient de prendre des r\u00e9solutions pour le Nouvel An en 2022. \u201d\u00a0<\/p><p>J&#039;avouerai \u00eatre choqu\u00e9 par cette d\u00e9couverte.<\/p><p>Mais, apr\u00e8s un examen plus approfondi, la d\u00e9couverte sugg\u00e9rerait que plus vous \u00eates jeune, plus votre avenir est important pour vous. Mon exp\u00e9rience sugg\u00e8re que c&#039;est vrai. Apr\u00e8s tout, le but de cette r\u00e9solution est de rendre l&#039;avenir meilleur, pas pire.\u00a0<\/p><p>Pourtant, prendre une r\u00e9solution est une chose; convertir les paroles d&#039;une r\u00e9solution en action est ce qui fait r\u00e9ellement la diff\u00e9rence.<\/p><p>Faire cela demande un engagement.<\/p><p><strong>Concernant l&#039;engagement<\/strong><\/p><p>Notre capacit\u00e9 \u00e0 utiliser le langage pour communiquer est l&#039;une de nos caract\u00e9ristiques distinctives en tant qu&#039;\u00eatres humains. Depuis combien de temps nous parlions-nous collectivement ? C&#039;est un sujet de d\u00e9bat scientifique : les estimations vont de 50 000 \u00e0 2 millions d&#039;ann\u00e9es. Cette diff\u00e9rence est \u00e9norme, et il est peu probable qu&#039;elle soit r\u00e9solue de sit\u00f4t, puisque personne n&#039;a pris la peine d&#039;enregistrer la date pour la post\u00e9rit\u00e9.\u00a0<\/p><p>La langue parl\u00e9e a commenc\u00e9 bien avant que nous ayons cr\u00e9\u00e9 le mot \u00e9crit.<\/p><p>Le langage \u2013 l&#039;utilisation de mots \u2013 est un processus complexe et d\u00e9routant, avec peu d&#039;absolus. Lors du d\u00e9ploiement d&#039;une nouvelle politique, un leader demande un engagement de la part des suiveurs pour effectuer le changement. Lorsqu&#039;il coache un suiveur qui ne l&#039;a pas fait, le leader veut s&#039;engager \u00e0 le faire \u00e0 l&#039;avenir. L&#039;engagement est destin\u00e9 \u00e0 transmettre une promesse\u00a0: &quot;Promettez-moi qu&#039;\u00e0 l&#039;avenir, vous allez\u2026.&quot;\u00a0<\/p><p>D&#039;un autre c\u00f4t\u00e9, il arrive parfois qu&#039;un leader remette en question l&#039;engagement d&#039;un suiveur \u00e0 travailler en toute s\u00e9curit\u00e9. En l&#039;absence d&#039;acte de Dieu, je suis oblig\u00e9 de produire un manuscrit. Ce que je ferai.<\/p><p>C&#039;est le pouvoir d&#039;un contrat. Ne serait-ce pas bien si vous pouviez exercer un tel pouvoir sur vos partisans sur des questions importantes concernant la s\u00e9curit\u00e9, comme suivre une proc\u00e9dure de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 nouvellement cr\u00e9\u00e9e. Comprenez bien, pensai-je, il ne devrait pas y avoir besoin d&#039;une deuxi\u00e8me \u00e9dition.<\/p><p>En ce qui concerne ces principes et pratiques durables, je ne peux pas imaginer un moment o\u00f9 l&#039;exemple personnel et la cr\u00e9dibilit\u00e9 d&#039;un leader n&#039;auront pas d&#039;importance pour le processus d&#039;influence, ou un monde o\u00f9 la production et le co\u00fbt deviennent plus importants que de renvoyer tout le monde \u00e0 la maison, sain et sauf. \u00e0 la fin de la journ\u00e9e.\u00a0<\/p><p>Ou lorsque le leader de premi\u00e8re ligne n&#039;a pas d&#039;importance pour les performances de s\u00e9curit\u00e9. C&#039;est l&#039;essence du livre.<\/p><p>Pourtant, cela fait plus d&#039;une d\u00e9cennie que la premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition a \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9e. Depuis lors, j&#039;ai eu le privil\u00e8ge de voir de premi\u00e8re main une tranche plus grande et plus large du monde de l&#039;industrie. Le mien : bas\u00e9 sur l&#039;observation personnelle et l&#039;exp\u00e9rience.\u00a0<\/p><p>Mon parcours date du 5 juillet 1968 : c&#039;est \u00e0 ce moment-l\u00e0 que ma carri\u00e8re industrielle a commenc\u00e9, en quart de nuit dans une usine chimique, au service d&#039;un contrema\u00eetre de production nomm\u00e9 Andy Varab. Pauvre homme. J&#039;observe toujours.\u00a0<\/p><p>Quant \u00e0 mon exp\u00e9rience, j&#039;admettrai volontiers avoir commis moi-m\u00eame bon nombre de ces erreurs, au cours de mon mandat de superviseur et de gestionnaire.\u00a0<\/p><p>Une fois, alors que j&#039;expliquais ces erreurs \u00e0 une salle pleine de dirigeants, ils se sont mis en col\u00e8re : comment oserais-je les accuser de faire ces erreurs ! Mais je ne l&#039;ai su que plusieurs ann\u00e9es plus tard. S&#039;ils avaient soulev\u00e9 une objection sur place, j&#039;aurais expliqu\u00e9 qu&#039;aucun dirigeant ne commettait toutes ces erreurs, ni m\u00eame aucune de ces erreurs. Ce sont des erreurs importantes que j&#039;ai vues commettre par des dirigeants en grand nombre.\u00a0<\/p><p>Nous faisons tous des erreurs. La cl\u00e9 est de ne pas continuer \u00e0 faire les m\u00eames erreurs. Quand est venu le temps d&#039;\u00e9crire le livre, le premier chapitre que j&#039;ai termin\u00e9 est venu tout droit de ces erreurs.\u00a0<\/p><p>Quant \u00e0 savoir quelles \u00e9taient ces erreurs, la liste \u00e9tait la suivante :<\/p><p>10. Croire que la &quot;bonne chance&quot; suffit<br \/>9. Ne pas poser de bonnes questions<br \/>8. Chasser toute peur<br \/>7. Se concentrer sur le court terme<br \/>6. Essayer d&#039;acheter un jeu<br \/>5. Dissing mesure de la performance de s\u00e9curit\u00e9<br \/>4. Penser que la gestion de la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 ne n\u00e9cessite pas de leadership<br \/>3. Essayer de g\u00e9rer l&#039;attitude<br \/>2. Croire que la performance en mati\u00e8re de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 n&#039;est qu&#039;un autre objectif commercial<br \/>1. Oublier que la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 est vraiment une question d&#039;ex\u00e9cution - et ne pas reconna\u00eetre qui g\u00e8re l&#039;ex\u00e9cution<\/p><p>Maintenant qu&#039;il est temps de r\u00e9\u00e9crire le livre, une d\u00e9cision \u00e0 laquelle je suis confront\u00e9 est de savoir si ces erreurs sont toujours les plus importantes.
