Quel est le plus gros danger : un avion de ligne ou un moustique ?<\/p>

Si vous fondiez votre choix sur la taille du danger, la r\u00e9ponse serait \u00e9tonnamment \u00e9vidente : c'est le jet. Le comparer \u00e0 un moustique, c'est comme comparer un marteau au virus COVID. Mais ce n'est pas ainsi que vous comparez les dangers et d\u00e9cidez auxquels vous devez pr\u00eater le plus d'attention.<\/p>

Alors comment faire ce choix ?<\/p>

Une base de comparaison est de consid\u00e9rer le dommage potentiel qu'un danger peut causer. Vous prenez le COVID beaucoup plus au s\u00e9rieux qu'un marteau, et pour cause : le virus est un danger tr\u00e8s grave qui a caus\u00e9 des maladies graves et la mort. Un avion aussi.\u00a0<\/p>

Mais il en va de m\u00eame pour un petit moustique emb\u00eatant, en transportant et en transmettant des maladies.<\/p>

Quant \u00e0 savoir lequel de ces deux dangers a\u00e9riens cause le plus de dommages, en un an, sur notre plan\u00e8te, plus d'un million de personnes meurent \u00e0 cause des dangers pour la sant\u00e9 propag\u00e9s par les moustiques\u00a0; jusqu'\u00e0 sept cents millions d'autres subissent de graves pr\u00e9judices.\u00a0<\/p>

Sur cette base, la r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 ce qui est le plus grand danger devient \u00e9tonnamment \u00e9vidente : c'est le moustique. C'est peut-\u00eatre le plus grand danger de la plan\u00e8te.<\/p>

Mais que se passe-t-il si les maladies v\u00e9hicul\u00e9es par les moustiques sont tr\u00e8s rares l\u00e0 o\u00f9 vous habitez ?<\/p>

Si vous voyagez en avion tout le temps, mais que vous voyagez rarement dans des endroits o\u00f9 le paludisme est r\u00e9pandu, l'avion de ligne commercial serait le plus grand danger - pour vous. Dans ce cas, la r\u00e9ponse est bas\u00e9e sur votre exposition personnelle au danger.<\/p>

Quant au sens servi par cet exercice, c'est tr\u00e8s simple. Que nous en soyons conscients ou non, nous comparons tous r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement les dangers, en d\u00e9cidant ceux auxquels il faut pr\u00eater une attention particuli\u00e8re et ceux dont il ne faut pas s'inqui\u00e9ter. Nous le faisons en comparant la gravit\u00e9 potentielle, les donn\u00e9es et l'exposition personnelle.<\/p>

Et plus nous comprendrons ce processus, mieux nous saurons reconna\u00eetre ce qui peut nous nuire.<\/p>
