Hace cincuenta a\u00f1os, el astronauta Neil Armstrong se convirti\u00f3 en el primer ser humano en pisar la Luna. Los cient\u00edficos e ingenieros de la NASA lograron asumir el mayor desaf\u00edo t\u00e9cnico, y el esfuerzo humano m\u00e1s arriesgado, del siglo XX.\u00a0<\/span>
\u00a0<\/span>
Durante la primera d\u00e9cada de vuelos espaciales tripulados en los Estados Unidos, no se perdi\u00f3 ninguna vida humana en el espacio. En la gesti\u00f3n del riesgo, no hay mayor historia de \u00e9xito.<\/span>
\u00a0<\/span>
Eso no quiere decir que no se perdieron vidas en la b\u00fasqueda de este ambicioso objetivo. En 1967, un accidente fatal se cobr\u00f3 la vida de tres astronautas en tierra: en la plataforma de lanzamiento, practicando para despegar en una c\u00e1psula espacial sellada enriquecida con ox\u00edgeno, cuando estall\u00f3 el fuego. El rescate result\u00f3 imposible, en parte porque 28 pestillos sellaron el puerto de entrada.<\/span>
\u00a0<\/span>
En retrospectiva, este fue un evento que no solo fue evitable sino obvio: una atm\u00f3sfera de ox\u00edgeno puro a 16 PSI, con uno de los mejores inventos de la NASA, Velcro, pegado en todas partes.<\/span>
\u00a0<\/span>
Combustible, ox\u00edgeno; todo lo que faltaba era una fuente de calor, y no se necesitaba mucho para activar el Tri\u00e1ngulo de Fuego. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9 cree que todos esos cient\u00edficos e ingenieros pasaron por alto ese peligro potencialmente fatal?<\/span>
\u00a0<\/span>
\u00bfPodr\u00eda ser porque la c\u00e1psula y las tripulaciones estaban sentadas en el suelo? \u00bfNo hab\u00eda sucedido antes? \u00bfEsto fue solo un ejercicio de entrenamiento? \u00bfLa situaci\u00f3n era demasiado obvia?<\/span>
